A free guide for teachers and school staff
Calm starts with you
The HushAway® Wellbeing Guide for Teachers
Teaching asks you to give calm all day long, and children borrow it from the adults around them. When staff are running on empty, the whole classroom feels it. This free 20-page guide looks at why co-regulation starts with the adult in the room, what is really draining teachers, and small, realistic ways to look after yourself and your colleagues, from the drive in to the end of the day.

“Responsibility for wellbeing shouldn’t sit within individuals, but with organisations.”
Dr Viki Veale, Associate Professor in Early Years and Primary Education, St Mary’s University, TwickenhamAbout HushAway®
HushAway® is a UK-based audio library of stories, affirmations and soundscapes for children aged 4 to 10 years. It was built from the ground up for neurodivergent children, not neurotypical content relabelled. It is low-demand and instruction-free, designed to become a gentle, familiar part of a child’s everyday routine, not a sticking plaster for moments of crisis. There are no “calm down” steps to follow. Our stories and sounds are frequency-based, using Solfeggio frequencies, binaural beats and ASMR-informed soundscapes, and we are research-informed and backed by the Circle of Experts and SoundSonic® Ambassadors.
HushAway® is a sound-therapy-informed regulation tool. It is not a medical or clinical treatment.
Questions teachers ask
Is the guide really free?
Yes. Fill in the form and the guide is yours to download, share with colleagues and print.
Who is the guide for?
Anyone working with children aged 4 to 10 years in a primary school or nursery: class teachers, teaching assistants, SENCos, pastoral leads, early years practitioners and senior leaders. There is a page just for leaders, too.
I’m already stretched. Is this one more thing to do?
No. Nothing in the guide needs extra time. The ideas borrow a few minutes that are already there, like the drive in or a cup of tea at break, and the leaders’ page is about taking things off staff, not adding to them.
Do we need special equipment or a subscription to use the ideas?
No. Most of the ideas cost nothing. Where sound is suggested, a pair of headphones or a speaker at a low volume is all you need.
How is HushAway® different from apps like Calm or Headspace?
Many calming apps are built around guided meditations that ask you to follow steps or breathe in a certain way. When you are already tired, that can feel like another task. HushAway® is instruction-free. The stories and soundscapes simply play in the background, and it was built from the ground up for neurodivergent children aged 4 to 10 years.
Is HushAway® a therapy?
No. HushAway® is a sound-therapy-informed regulation tool. It is not a medical or therapeutic treatment and doesn’t replace professional support. If you are struggling, Education Support runs a free, confidential helpline for everyone working in education on 08000 562 561.
Can we use HushAway® in our school?
Yes. Sanctuary in Schools is HushAway® for primary schools and nurseries, including sounds just for the grown-ups. You can register your school’s interest at education.hushaway.com.
HushAway® is a sound-therapy-informed regulation tool and is not a replacement for medical care, therapy or personalised clinical advice. Questions? Email education@hushaway.com. Privacy policy
