A free planner for schools and nurseries
One calm moment, written into your inclusion strategy
Your Inclusion Strategy and Sound: a planner for schools
Every school in England is asked to publish an inclusion strategy on its website by 31 December 2026. It needs to name the barriers your pupils face, what you are investing in, the costs, the outcomes you expect and a review of the year. This free planner shows how one small, daily practice, a calm sound moment at the same point in the day, can sit in that strategy, with example wording for each part that you can adapt for your own setting.

What’s inside the planner
- The approach in one line: a three-to-five-minute sound moment at the same time every day, for the whole class
- How it maps to each part of your strategy: the barrier, the activity, the cost, the outcomes and the review of the year
- Example wording for every part, written so you can adapt it for your own setting
- Where it sits against the principles of inclusion, including belonging, accessible environments and partnerships with families
- A simple way to show whether it helped: a 1 to 5 rating, a note for up to three named pupils, and pupil voice
- What to know about funding, safe listening and how it sits alongside your SEND provision
Built around the Department for Education’s guidance
The planner follows the structure set out in the Department for Education’s guidance, Developing an inclusion strategy using the Inclusive Mainstream Fund (published 25 June 2026, updated 7 August 2026), and quotes its seven principles of inclusion word for word. We quote the guidance; we do not claim its endorsement.
“Focus on implementing fewer approaches well.”
Department for Education, guidance on developing an inclusion strategyThat is the thinking behind a daily sound moment. One moment of the day, usually the hardest one, such as arrival, coming in from break or the end of the day. One sound, kept the same so it becomes familiar. Nothing for the child to learn and nothing new for the adult to teach.
About HushAway®
HushAway® is a UK-based audio library of stories, affirmations and soundscapes for children aged 4 to 10 years. It was built from the ground up for neurodivergent children, not neurotypical content relabelled. It is low-demand and instruction-free, designed to become a gentle, familiar part of a child’s everyday routine, not a sticking plaster for moments of crisis. There are no “calm down” steps to follow. Our stories and sounds are frequency-based, using Solfeggio frequencies, binaural beats and ASMR-informed soundscapes, and we are research-informed and backed by the Circle of Experts and SoundSonic® Ambassadors.
HushAway® is a sound-therapy-informed regulation tool. It is not a medical or clinical treatment.
Questions schools ask
Is the planner really free?
Yes. Fill in the form and the planner is yours to download, adapt and share with colleagues.
Who is the planner for?
Headteachers, SENCos, inclusion leads and business managers in nurseries, primary schools and special schools in England who are writing their inclusion strategy this term.
Do we have to use HushAway® to use the planner?
No. The planner explains the approach, a calm sound moment at the same point every day, and shows where it can sit in your strategy. The example wording names HushAway® Sanctuary in Schools, and you can adapt it to suit your setting.
Will the Inclusive Mainstream Fund pay for HushAway®?
We don’t suggest it will. The guidance asks that any activity funded from the Inclusive Mainstream Fund sits under one of the seven principles of inclusion, and that the fund is not the only source of funding for an approach. Your business manager decides how an activity is funded.
Is it only for neurodivergent pupils?
No. HushAway® was built from the ground up for neurodivergent children, not neurotypical content relabelled, but a sound moment is played to the whole class, so no child is singled out for needing it.
How is HushAway® different from apps like Calm or Headspace?
Many calming apps are built around guided meditations that ask a child to follow steps, breathe in a certain way or picture a scene. For an overwhelmed child that can feel like one more instruction. HushAway® is low-demand and instruction-free. The stories and soundscapes simply play, and it was built from the ground up for neurodivergent children aged 4 to 10 years.
Is HushAway® a therapy?
No. HushAway® is a sound-therapy-informed regulation tool. It is not a medical or therapeutic treatment and doesn’t replace your school’s SEND provision, curriculum, safeguarding duties or clinical advice.
When can we use HushAway® in our school?
The Sanctuary in Schools membership opens in January 2027, with the School Toolkit and Peace for Pupils, our CPD accredited training, following in April. You can register your school’s interest at www.hushaway.com/educators.
